Broadly speaking, an audit is the process by which specific information or a process is examined so that, at its conclusion, the engaged auditor can form an opinion on the information made available.

The opinion expressed through the Independent Auditor's Report is the synthesis of applying various verification and examination procedures and methods, allowing the responsible auditor to opine on the reasonableness, adequacy or reliability of the audit's subject matter — which may include financial statement audit, preventive tax audit, HR/payroll audit, process audit (compliance), information security audit (IT audit), among other examinations.

Auditing is based on the principle that the information and processes under examination must be verifiable, measurable and formally documented. Presenting and making available documentary evidence is therefore fundamental to the work — the principle of professional skepticism.

Engaging an audit requires considering not only the intended scope of the work, but also the benefits and conclusions to be achieved, generally including the following:

  • Increased transparency, understanding and confidence in the audited information for its users;
  • Identification of potential risks, non-conformities and control points for adjustment, adoption of action plans and follow-up on the implementation of routines and adjustments recommended by the independent audit;
  • Adherence to disclosure requirements from regulators in general, as well as corporate and accounting legislation;
  • Validation and identification of opportunities to improve internal controls, processes, information security and systems in general.

It should be noted that, to achieve these objectives, Audipec Auditoria operates diligently and to the extent necessary to obtain the results expected from the audit process.
